Back in the studio here in 2016, writing and recording! Proud to release the new single, “Next to Nothing,” as the first track toward completion of the Highway Nine Rising album. A little bit about reflection, simplicity, and keeping your heart above your head in the search for what really matters.

If you like what you hear, tune in to 30A Songwriter Radio this Thursday, Feb 11th, at 11AM CT to hear a live interview and some of the new songs I’m working on for the album…

Please help spread the word and share it if you like it! :)

Take it easy you guys,

I Wanna Live – Lyrics

i wanna live

train rolls by i hear the horn, shakin my bed in the early morning

dogs bark and tell the story that, i’ll never know

rain fallin on my lawn, everything i knew is gone, it’s a

shadow of a song that, i’ll never know

two a.m. and i can’t sleep, all your words around me creep and they’re

makin it so i can’t keep my, feet on the ground

another dead-end day goes by, now i’ll never wonder why i

haven’t seen the other side or, even heard a sound

and the train rolls by and the rain rolls by again

and my feet are up in the two a.m. dead-end

and i wanna live by the ocean its a notion that i had

i wanna feel the sun shinin upon my skin and know that it aint bad

i wanna live in a condo ride my honda down the street

i wanna feel the sand squishin beneath my feet as i walk along the beach

as i walk along the beach

livin in a one-bed flat, down by the laundromat, but i

never woulda told you that if you, didn’t turn me on

another summer night goes by, probably never wonder why i

haven’t seen the other side, or even heard a sound

and the sky so high it’s burnin my eyes again

and my feet are up in the two a.m. dead-end

down at the turnaround, where you laid your lover down, i see

faint traces on the ground of the way, it used to be now

Next to Nothing – Lyrics

we can build our house out of next to nothing

and we can feed ourselves on a little bit of love

and if the walls fall down

we can put our blankets on the ground

and light a little fire of our own

spent the better part of the last week thinking about it

never understood the reason i didn’t even need to know

but if i didn’t try i never would of asked why i’m without it

guess it’s time to take it slow

we are just the dust in a ray of sunlight

floating in the moment knowing all of it washes away

cause you can run all you want but you’re never gonna see the end line

let it go, walk away

knowing we could never have another moment like the last one

and even if we did it wouldn’t really ever be the same

and i know i can get by without being the fast one

cause it’s all a crazy game

all i ever wanted was to walk with you by the water

and now we got next to nothing but a little bit more

a momentary zen, then again its been another

reminder for – you can’t ignore

and there’s just one way home, on our own

but if we decide we could let it all slide

and happily reside a little further on down the road

Waiting For The Weather – Lyrics

goin back to colorado cuz i can’t take it anymore like a broken desperado i’m burnin bridges and lockin doors and there’s a feelin i get when the walls come tumblin down and everybody got their eyes to the ground i look around and i’ve found there aint nothin holdin me down and i aint that far gone yet that i can’t pick up and go you know that i know i got the fire sun and the moonglow and the rainbow and where the wind blows i’ll be sailing and i will live this way my friend until the end and now i’m sittin here waitin for the weather to break i gotta hit the road and run its a chance i’ll take cuz i never had anything sacred to defend but i got the pavement poundin in my brain and with an everyday vision my heart remains and i don’t know when i’ll be comin back again from the moment that i saw you i wondered if i’d change my mind but the twisted turn of good intention takes a life time to unwind and there’s a feelin i get when i look into your eyes you know that you and i could find the time between the lines to read the signs and redefine another reality and you’re not that far gone yet that you couldn’t pick up and be free not just like me but beside me and inside of me and whatever you want to be you can be as long as you see that in life as in every single moment we are here and gone so short and so long
